Pitch Score exists for one reason: to give pitch owners, operators and regulators a defensible, reproducible set of numbers that describe how a natural turf surface is actually performing.

We're a trading name of Surface Performance Ltd — a UKAS-accredited testing laboratory (Lab 7933) with dedicated accreditations from FIFA, The FA, World Rugby, FIH and RoSPA. Our technicians travel the country testing pitches from step-3 non-league grounds to Premier League training facilities.

Our Accreditations

Every report we issue is produced under our UKAS ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, which is the internationally-recognised standard for testing laboratories. In practice, this means:

• Every piece of test equipment we use is traceably calibrated
• Every technician is independently audited and trained
• Every testing procedure is written down, reviewed, and audited annually
• Every report we issue is admissible in UK civil court proceedings

Our Sporting Bodies

Beyond the UKAS framework, we hold accreditations from the governing bodies whose standards we test against:

• FIFA Quality Programme — accredited testing institute (ATI) for FIFA Quality and FIFA Quality Pro natural turf and hybrid systems
• The FA — approved Performance Quality Standard (PQS) testing provider
• World Rugby — Regulation 22 accredited surface testing
• FIH (International Hockey Federation) — approved pitch testing provider
• RoSPA — approved for playground and public safety surface testing

Who we work with

Our typical client is a pitch operator responsible for the safety, performance or compliance of a natural turf surface. That could be a Football League club's head groundsman, a county council parks manager, an independent school's head of sport or a Premiership rugby operations director.

We work on single-site assessments, annual portfolio contracts, pre- and post-renovation evidence packages, grant-funded application support, and expert witness engagements in pitch-related personal injury claims.
